If I have learned anything while in ministry over the last two years, it’s this: you can only give away what you have. I can’t give you that double cheeseburger you’ve been craving if I only have day-old french fries in my hands.

You have probably heard it said, ‘Free people, free people.’ I would venture to say, this idea reigns true for a majority of concepts in our life…

Loved people, love people

Forgiven people, forgive people

Accepted people, accept people

Chosen people, choose people

And the list could continue. The point is this, if we want to give away things to those around us – we have to receive it for ourselves first. We have access to things like love, freedom, forgiveness, and wisdom thanks to Jesus.

We as an organization took two weeks out of this month to train and prepare 3 squads of World Racers (98 missionaries in total), and we equipped them with beautiful things to give away. 36 of these participants make up P Squad (the squad I will be leading for the next year).

Over this two week period, we walked them through things like importance in identity, communion with the Holy Spirit, intimacy with the Father, healthy feedback in community, and boldly approaching mission. We showed them the ins and outs of cultural norms, street evangelism, sleeping scenarios, preaching sermons, and so much more.

At training camp, one of the women who helped train P Squad received a word from the Lord for us – she said that God gave her the words, “Freedom Fighters”. P Squad took these words and embraced them. We saw freedom come in the form of baptisms (11 of the 36 got dunked in a kiddie pool!), we saw depression defeated, eating disorders broken off, and physical ailments healed! P Squad fought for freedom in each other, freedom for themselves, and freedom for their families.

I have no doubt that wherever they step foot – freedom will come because they are FREE.

This group of world changers are ready for the next year, and I could not be more honored to play a small part in the big Kingdom that has already begun to come.

If you want to read first-hand experiences from the perspective of P Squad, here are a few of  their personal blog posts regarding training camp.
